    General Summary:


    Responsible for overseeing and coordinating direct sales and marketing activities for assigned hotels.  Create and maintain a highly energized selling culture and collaborate with hotel Directors of Sales and General Managers to develop and implement strategic sales and marketing plans to grow revenue and market share.  Success is measured through achievement of revenue goals and improvement in market share.


    Principal Responsibilities:


    • Support hotel teams in areas of revenue opportunities, sales team development, brand resources, action planning.
    • Foster collaboration for hotel sales success with VP Operations, General Managers, Directors of
    • Sales and Revenue Management
    • Recruitment and retention of  Directors of Sales


    Job Duties:


    • Problem Solving- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Develops alternative solutions, uses reason at all times.  Makes timely decisions while exhibiting sound judgment.  Able to engage others on difficult issues with finesse. Able to influence, direct and lead activities where direct reporting lines may not exist.
    • Project Management – Ability to organize, multitask, identify priorities for hotels and region. Completes property visit reports and distributes to DOS, GM and VP Sales and Marketing.  Ability to meet deadlines.
    • Communication –Communicates effectively the objectives and goals of assigned hotels and has a willingness to listen to ideas of others. Communicates change effectively.  Effective communication skills, written and verbal, including presentations to BLA Senior Management.
    • Customer Service:  Enjoys interacting with customers and networking within the industry and partners.
    • Team Work – Exhibits objectivity and openness to the views of others and contributes to building a positive team spirit.  Upholds organizational values, treats people with respect and promotes a harassment free environment. Work collaboratively with all disciplines; Operations, Accounting, eCommerce, Marketing, Human Resources, Revenue Management.  Celebrates sales successes by recognizing assigned hotels top sales performers.
    • Productivity –Ensures the DOS in each hotel is properly deployed to maximize sales revenue, and there is a proactive selling environment.  Ensures that all sales administrative processes are in place and functioning effectively. Ensures that all reports and internal requests for information are submitted on or before assigned due dates. Provides VP Sales and Marketing with weekly recap highlighting activities for the week and schedule for the upcoming week.  Completes property visit reports and distributes to VP Sales, GM, VP Operations.
    • Adaptability – Able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events, changing approach or method to best fit a situation.
    • Initiative - Take independent actions and calculated risks, meets challenges with resourcefulness, generates suggestion for improving work and takes responsibility for own actions. Delegates work assignments, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities.
    • People Management – Develops subordinates skills and encourages growth. Manages difficult or emotional employee situations.  Responsible for coaching, developing and acting as a mentor for the DOS at each property in assigned region. Assumes dotted line reporting responsibility for each DOS. Reinforces brand and company provided sales training with assigned hotels. Ensures DOS performance reviews are completely on a timely basis with appropriate inputs.
    • Compliance - Maintains confidentiality.  Ensures all national brand standards pertaining to sales are implemented in assigned hotels.
    • Business Acumen – Monitors hotels’ revenue performance toward plan achievement.  Assists assigned hotels with the Business Transient RFP process. Ensure the DOS are “experts” when it comes to selling against their hotels’ competitive set.   Assists assigned hotels with annual budget process.  Ensures assigned sales objectives for RevPar are met for the region. Collaborates with Rev. Mgmt to ensure hotels have effective pricing/sell strategies to achieve the optimal mix of business.




    A Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from a four year college or university; or four to five years hands-on property level sales experience is required, preferably in upper mid-market hotels.  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple people in a demanding, fast paced and ever changing environment.  Ability to develop an understanding of concepts, practices, pre-established guidelines and procedures used by the company in relation to guest service is necessary.  Computer knowledge including intranet, Property management system, WORD, and EXCEL is strongly preferred.   Must have valid driver’s license, and acceptable driving record subject to company approval.
